US Dismisses Navy Warship Commander Over Viral Shooting Rifle Photo

US Navy Warship Commander, Cameron Yaste Dismissed From Command

The US has announced the removal of Commander, Cameron Yaste, from his command of the USS John McCain.

The announcement comes after a viral photo of showed Yaste shooting with a rifle scope mounted backward.

The photo which was posted by Yaste in April has since recent severe media scrutiny.

The Navy expained that Yaste was relieved of command “due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command the guided-missile destroyer.”

The photo first surfaced on the Navy’s Instagram account, with Yaste seen aiming the rifle with the scope improperly mounted.

“From engaging in practice gun shoots, conducting maintenance, testing fuel purity and participating in sea and anchor details, the #USNavy is always ready to serve and protect,” the caption read.

The mistake was quicky highlighted by Instagram users.

The Navy had responded by acknowledging the error and then removing the image.

Following continued heat over the error, the Navy has now punished Yaste by removing him from Command.
