The explosion that rocked Maiduguri early Friday was masterminded by three suspected suicide bombers, NEMA has confirmed.

The National Emergency Management Agency said the three suspects were killed in the explosion.

“Three 3 suspected suicide bombers died along Damboa Road, Maiduguri as a result of explosions in early hours of today,” the agency said in a tweet.

At least three petrol tankers were burnt as a result of the incident, but no other loss of life has been recorded.

NEMA said the fire has been brought under control and casualties have been evacuated.

The bombing came two days after Acting President Yemi Osinbajo said Boko Haram was effectively degraded and so couldn’t carry out daunting attacks.
