UNILAG: “We’ll shut everywhere including the toilets!” – activists vow after blind student victimization
Activists say they will protest at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) today.
The planned action came after UNILAG suspended visually impaired student Lawrence Success.
Success was rusticated for two semesters over an “illegal protest”, his UNILAG online portal reportedly shows.
Newsroom gathered the “illegal” protest took place in 2015 during which students complained about the plague of bed bugs in their hostels.
“They didn’t even notify me in writing,” Success told Newsroom. “I found out via the online portal.”
UNILAG had rusticated 11 other students for criticising the school management. One of them, Femi Adeyeye, said he’s ready to die during the demonstration planned for today.

“Let me state this here that it is a struggle for comrades and those that who are tired of this incessant rubbish,” Adeyeye said.
“It is not a movement where you look at the eyeballs of your friend or you wait for you friend or SUG President to move before you move,” he said.
Adeyeye urged intending demonstrators to come alone with chains and padlocks as “we will lock everything up”.
“Lock the toilets too,” another intending demonstrator said.
We understand Charly Boy could be joining the protest.
We’ve contacted UNILAG for answers but they’re yet to reply us.
