UNICEF gives N410 million medical supplies to Nigerian IDPs
The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) said it has delivered “$1.3 million (about N410 million) worth of lifesaving supplies for internally displaced persons in northeast Nigeria”.
“A Boeing 747 cargo plane” bearing the supplied “arrived Abuja on Sunday”, UNICEF said in a statement.
“The plane brought in health kits containing essential medicines and health supplies for primary health centres in the states affected by the crisis.
“The health kits will serve nearly one million people for a period of three months.
“There were also water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) dignity kits including clean water storage cans, basic menstrual hygiene products enough for 80,000 women and adolescent girls for 3 months,” the statement reads.
UNICEF said package delivery company UPS helped deliver the goods to Nigeria free of charge.
