Two fraudsters get 6 months jail sentence in Edo

Two fraudsters received jail sentences on Friday at the Federal High Court, in Benin City, Edo State.

One of the convicts, Emeodi Chuks was arraigned on a one count charge bordering on fraudulent trick and attempting to obtain by false pretence. He was said to have attempted to obtain money from one Vinno Alves by presenting himself as having a huge sum of money with United Overseas Bank (UOB) sometime in December 2017.

Emeodi admitted to the court that he was guilty of the crime and the judge subsequently pronounced a sentence of six months imprisonment.

The second convict, Kenneth Osamuyi Aganwonyi, was arraigned on a one count charge bordering on obtaining by fraudulent trick.

Aganwonyi was said to have fraudulently obtained some money from one Fatima Umar. He also pleaded guilty to the charge and Justice Umar also sentenced him to six months imprisonment.

The court also ordered that all assets recovered from Aganwonyi as proceeds of crime be forfeited to the victim through the Federal Government.
