Tuface: President Buhari will be welcomed by protesting Nigerians on February 6

President Buhari's resumption
President Buhari’s return to office will be on a challenging note.

An intended mass protest by Nigerians, championed by respected Nigerian musician, 2face Idibia, will hold the same day President Buhari is expected back in office.

2face, in announcing his intention to lead the protest, cited lack of good governance and inadequate provision of basic amenities as reasons to take to the streets on Monday, February 6.

The protest, which is set to hold at the National Stadium through to the National Theatre at 8am, will coincide with the resumption of Buhari at Aso Rock following his vacation in the UK.

It will serve as a statement of dissatisfaction from the masses on the APC-led administration.

There have been widespread uncertainty about Buhari’s well-being in the past week, with rumours flying he had died. Several photos of the President of the Federal Republic have however been released to calm the tension, but many have expressed they would only believe he is alive when he resumes official duty as the number one citizen.

The protest and its timing will also mean road users navigating their ways to work around the area will face difficulty in doing so with ease.

The last time a mass protest was held in Lagos was during the Goodluck Jonanthan-led administration in 2012, when Nigerians resisted the removal of fuel subsidy.
