“Troubled” Nigerian-born doctor shoots up hospital, kills one, injures six

An embattled doctor killed a woman and injured six others when he went on rampage at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center on Friday afternoon.
The doctor, identified as Henry Bello, would later be shot to death in the aftermath of the shooting spree.
Findings have revealed he was once a staff of the hospital, where he had resigned from his position in February 2015 after working there for about six months.
It is believed his medical licence had expired and he had ultimately resigned before he was fired because of his behaviour towards a member of staff in 2015.

Bello, 45, returned to the hospital on Friday, armed with an AR-15 rifle which he concealed under a lab coat.
The Nigerian-born family practitioner, who is said to have had a troubled past, opened fire on all doctors in sight, putting at least five in very critical conditions.
Doctors and patients were left traumatised following the incident, with a patient – Mr. Mercado – quoted as saying that no one would have thought such attack “would happen in a hospital.”
Numbers of casualties were believed to have been kept to a minimum due to the presence of doctors who quickly attended to Dr Bello’s victims.
Police have ruled that the attack was most likely “a workplace violence on the part of a former disgruntled employee.”
