Troops from the Joint Task Force (North-East), operating under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have successfully neutralized eight fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a confrontation in Borno State.

According to sources from the military, the clash took place early Monday near Garin Giwa, located along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route (MSR), as the insurgents attempted to disrupt ongoing military operations in the area. The terrorists faced intense resistance from the troops, leading to the death of eight of their members, including two Munzirs and one Qaid.

Among those killed were Modu Dogo Munzir from Dogon Chukun, another unidentified Munzir, and Abu Aisha Qaid from Tumbun Mota. In addition to the fatalities, several other ISWAP fighters were injured, particularly those who fled the scene on foot, abandoning 14 motorcycles that were subsequently recovered by the military.

The military source reaffirmed that the theatre command remains steadfast in its mission to combat terrorism and restore peace to the North-East region.
