Tributes pour in for “visionary” Stan Lee after his passing at 95
Tributes have started pouring in for Marvel Comics originator Stan Lee after he died Monday evening aged 95.
The legendary writer, editor and publisher died in Los Angeles.
Lee was responsible for creating some of the world’s most beloved superhero characters, including Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, X-Men, Iron Man, the Avengers, and Black Panther.
Lee’s comics were all adapted to the big screen in an extraordinary 60-year run as a renowned writer.
“I never would have expected anything like this when I was young, and I still sometimes have trouble believing it,” he had written in a 2015 memoir.
“All I was doing was trying to make a living. Then I began to enjoy writing them, so all I was doing was having fun.”
Popular figures around the world, including those who have been privileged to play Lee’s superhero characters in movies, have hailed his legacy as extraordinary.
Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine in the “X-Men” series, wrote on his Twitter, “We’ve lost a creative genius,” adding, “I’m proud to have been a small part of his legacy and … to have helped bring one of his characters to life.”
