Train Derailment On Abuja-Kaduna Route Leaves Six Injured, No Deaths

A train traveling from Abuja to Kaduna derailed between Kubwa and Asham stations on Tuesday, leaving six passengers injured.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:09 a.m. on August 26, 2025, at KM 49.



The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) reported that the train was carrying 618 persons, including 583 passengers and 15 crew members.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities recorded in the incident. NSIB Director-General, Alex Badeh, expressed sympathy for those injured.


The train, which was on its way to Kaduna, veered off the track as several coaches tumbled.


The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) confirmed the incident and stated that six persons sustained injuries.
