TRAGIC! Bride becomes widow 24 hrs after saying “I do” in Ghana
What was supposed to be the beginning of a blissful journey for two young lovers quickly became a day to forget. A day of sorrow and grief.
Disu Kamaru and his beautiful bride, Janatil Firdaws Yakubu had only just exchanged marital vows before friends and loved ones in an Islamic ceremony in Takoradi in the Western region of Ghana on Saturday when they were involved in a fatal accident barely a day after.
The newlyweds were said to be on their way to have more fun at a wedding reception in Accra on Sunday, September 30.
JoyNews reports that Disu and Janatil were on their way to a Guest House near the Atomic Roundabout for their party, when the groom who was behind the wheels crashed into a tree.
The publication reports that Disu lost control of the Hyundai Santafe steering wheel and there were blood stains on the air bag. He died shortly after friends rushed him to the hospital.
Janatil, it said, was still in critical condition and members of the family were yet to break the news of her husband’s demise to her.
Disu, a former student of St. John’s Grammar School and the Dining Hall Prefect for the 2004/2005 Academic year, was laid to rest Monday (today), about 48 hours after he said “I do”.
Coincidentally, his last Facebook post, about a week ago, was about forgiveness.
“The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward…,” he wrote.
