President Tinubu promotes Olufemi Oluyede, acting CoAS to Lieutenant-General

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has promoted the acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Olufemi Oluyede, to the position of Lieutenant General.

The decoration ceremony took place in the President’s office complex at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.

The communications team of the President announced, today, “President Tinubu decorates acting Chief of Army Staff, Oluyede, as Lt. General.”

Oluyede was appointed acting Chief of Army Staff last Wednesday in place of General Taoreed Lagbaja who is currently receiving treatment abroad. The decoration ceremony was carried out at the Presidential Villa, on Tuesday.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acting in his capacity as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, appointed Olufemi Oluyede as the acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS),” a statement by Bayo Onanuga said.

According to Onanuga, “ Oluyede will act in the position pending the return of the indisposed substantive Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.”
