The United States has faulted the Nigerian police for its approach in combating IMN members and has charged the Federal Government to account for the deaths of 300 Shi’ite members killed last December.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Idris Ibrahim, said the police couldn’t have avoided killing several of the sect’s members because of the violent approach that was employed during their protest.
A fresh clash between policemen and some protesting Shi’ites in Kano has left as many as nine persons, including women, children and a policeman, dead.
