Suspected herdsmen kill three policemen in Nasarawa
Three policemen were reportedly killed in cold blood by suspected herdsmen in Nasarawa on Sunday.
Samaila Usman, police spokesperson in the state, told newsmen that the three policemen were ambushed and killed on Sunday on their way to quell a crisis between Agatu farmers and herdsmen.
He said the corpses of the policemen, an inspector, a sergeant and a corporal had been recovered and deposited at a morgue.
Usman, however, did not disclose the names of the officers involved but said that the command had mobilised a reinforcement team, led by an assistant commissioner of police to fish out the killers of the policemen.
Nasarawa and neighbouring Benue have witnessed incessant clashes between herdsmen and farmers in recent months.
The development has raised concerns that Nigerians may contend with hunger in the near future because of the inability of farmers to cultivate their farms.
