Storekeeper Bags 12 Months Jail Term For Burning Chinese Boss’ Credentials
Abubakar Hussaini, a 25-year old storekeeper who works with a Chinese man, has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja on Tuesday, after he was alleged to have burned his boss Credentials for failing to increase his salary.
The complainant who pleaded guilty of charges of criminal trespass, mischief by fire and theft said his Chinese boss promised to increase his Salary but failed to comply, he also begged the court for leniency.
John Okpa the prosecutor, told the court that Mr Jack Jiang, the storekeeper boss, had earlier reported the case of the Hussani trespassing into the compound of the Chinese to steal a travelling bag containing five wristwatches, two bangles, four T-shirts and credentials to the Area Command, Life Camp, Abuja on August 26.
The prosecutor later said the items in the bag was recovered by the police after an investigation, but Hussani had already burnt the credentials and said he had contravened Sections 348, 336 and 288 of the Penal Code.
Punch reported that the Judge sentenced the storekeeper to 12 months imprisonment and also gave him a fine of N20,000 option, the judge also told the 25-year old to desist from committing a crime and be of good behaviour.
