Stop deceiving Nigerians, Niger Delta Avengers tells Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari (right) while receiving the outgoing German ambassador to Nigeria, H.E Michael Zenner (left) said his government was in talks with the Niger Delta Avengers.

The Niger Delta Avengers are not in any talks with the Federal Government of Nigeria.

This contradicts President Muhammadu Buhari’s claim, Thursday, that his government had begun talks with the militants who have claimed responsibility for many several attacks on Nigeria’s oil installations in recent times.

The president made the claim at a farewell dinner for the departing German Ambassador.

But the militants have swiftly moved to debunk the claim saying the president was deceiving Nigerians.

In a statement on its website, the Avengers claimed ignorance of any peace talk.

The Niger Delta Avengers say they intend to cripple Nigeria's economy.
The Niger Delta Avengers says it is not aware of any peace talk.

“Our attention has been drawn to media report that the President is in touch with Niger Delta agitators including the Niger Delta Avengers but the truth is that we are not aware of any peace talk.

“If there is any such peace talk, it means the President is talking to their mercenaries set to disturb the genuine struggle of the agitators.

“President Buhari led government is not sincere to the Nigeria people and their foreign allies.
