Six days after, court rejects Dino Melaye’s request to order police out of his premises

A pronouncement made by a federal high court sitting in Abuja has insisted that the police is acting accordingly as it rejects Dino Melaye’s request to order the police to leave his premises.

It’s been six days since the Nigeria police laid siege at the residence of the controversial senator representing Kogi central to arrest him over his alleged involvement in a culpable homicide.

In order to evade arrest, Melaye is reported to have bolted himself inside his home in Abuja as the continuous presence of the police seems to cast a shadow over his head.

To redeem the situation, Melaye had filed an ex-parte motion through his Lawyer on Thursday to enforce his fundamental human rights as he had initially accused the police of cutting off water and electricity from his residence.

The police insisted that the senator was awaiting prosecution as he had a case to answer for attempted suicide and arms trafficking. They also said that Melaye’s thugs had brutally attacked a police officer, Danjuma Saliu in Kogi state on July 19, 2018.

The senator was accused of flouting several invitations by the police which left the force with no choice than camping outside his residence to ensure he’s arrested.

Consequetly, his request for the court to order the police out of his premises with immediate effect was rejected by the presiding judge, N Maha who only granted motion on the  accelerated hearing of his his human rights violation accusation.
