SHAME: “Spoiled kids” of “corrupt” South Sudan leaders “flash stolen wealth on social media”

As thousands die and homeless millions starve in South Sudan, the country’s leaders allegedly pocketed funds belonging to their own countrymen.

Investigators at Sentry Group – cofounded by Hollywood actor George Clooney – are making the allegations against President Salva Kiir and his former deputy.

How did Sentry know this? Facebook and Instagram.

President Kiir’s children were not afraid to post images of their luxurious lifestyles – insulated from the sufferings of South Sudanese kids – on social media.

“In some cases we would be able to confirm that certain people are in a house that we already suspected because they post a bunch of pictures next to a really beautiful pool,” J.R. Mailey, who authored the report that busted the “corrupt” leaders, said.

“The social media postings just proved the hubris,” said actor Don Cheadle.

“The proof: they’re posing with stacks of dollars like rappers. This is where the money is flowing and that they clearly have no concern over being caught.”

Sad enough, the civil war that threw South Sudan into a bloody civil war started because of a bitter rivalry between President Kiir and his former deputy Riek Machar.

South Sudan leaders are being accused of spending the profits they made from controlling the country’s resources on themselves and their “spoiled kids”.

Clooney said the world must find a new way of stopping thieving leaders. He said:

“The essence of a new strategy would combine readily available anti-money-laundering measures with targeted sanctions focused on top regime officials and their international facilitators, while encouraging banks to help provide essential services to innocent South Sudanese.”
