Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has reportedly passed away in London. Ubah, who represented Anambra South Senatorial District, recently joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was believed to be interested in contesting the party’s ticket ahead of the Anambra State governorship election.

According to BusinessDay, Ubah’s death was confirmed by Yemi Adaramodu, APC’s Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Affairs.

Senator Ubah was the CEO of Capital Oil (CCO), a company he founded in 2001. Capital Oil has facilities and outlets primarily located in the Southeast and Southwest of Nigeria, including one of the largest tank farms for petroleum product storage and distribution in Lagos.

Senator Ubah Keen On Contesting For Governorship In 2025

Before joining APC in December of 2023, Ubah contested for his senatorial seat under the platform of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

While sources in Anambra told Neusroom that Ubah set his sights on contesting as Governor under APC, the business mogul vied for the seat 10 years ago under the platform of the Labour Party.

On Friday, July 26, it was reported that Ubah and his campaign council donated N71 million to APC in Anambra State.

The donation, according to the statement, was aimed at bolstering the party’s presence and strength in the Southeast region.

“Senator Ubah’s leadership and generosity have been instrumental in transforming the APC in Anambra State, positioning it for success in future elections,” the statement reads in part.

In September 2022, Senator Ubah narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. While on his way to Nnewi, his convoy was attacked by gunmen in Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State. The ambush resulted in the death of at least five individuals, including two policemen. Ubah survived the attack thanks to the bulletproof vehicle he was traveling in.

Survived by his wife, Uchenna Ubah, and five children, Ubah’s demise comes on the heels of another significant loss for the Igbo community, with the passing of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, just a few days prior.
