Ronaldo Nazario Declares Bid for Brazilian Football Presidency
Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario has announced his intention to run for the presidency of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The former Real Madrid striker made the declaration on Tuesday during an interview with Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte.
“For many decades, Brazilian football has been the escape for the Brazilian people when they faced daily struggles,” Ronaldo Nazario said.
“This was the fuel for our people, and today, we see a total lack of interest from the population in the national team. Among the many reasons motivating me to run for the presidency of the CBF is the desire to restore the prestige and respect that the national team once commanded but no longer enjoys today.”
The current CBF president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, will see his term expire in March 2026. According to the organization’s regulations, elections must be held 12 months before that date.
Ronaldo Nazario has expressed his readiness to sell his stake in La Liga side Real Valladolid to focus entirely on his campaign and potential role as CBF president.

The two-time World Cup winner and Olympic bronze medalist also expressed frustration at Brazil’s underperformance on the global stage despite its abundance of talent.
“We have the best players. We have Vinicius Jr., Neymar, Rodrygo, Estevão, Endrick… so much talent. How can we not play well?” Ronaldo questioned.
“We must change this dynamic. Brazil should be a leading force in the World Cup, the Copa America, and should never miss out on the Olympics. It’s unacceptable for a country with our level of talent,” he added passionately.
Ronaldo’s campaign is expected to center on revitalizing Brazilian football and reigniting the passion of its people for the national team.
