Report of New CEO to Replace Elon Musk is "Absolutely False" - Tesla

An earlier report that Tesla, owned by Elon Musk, was looking for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to replace the billionaire, has been strongly refuted by Robyn Denholm, the company’s chairperson of the board of directors.

The report of a new CEO, first published by the Wall Street Journal, emerged amidst concerns that Musk, who owns 12.8 percent of the electric vehicle company, has been spending significant time managing the newly formed government agency, DOGE, which is tasked with cutting federal expenses.

However, Denholm, who has served as a director on the board for six years, issued a statement on Tesla’s X account, calling the report “absolutely false.”

“Earlier today, there was a media report erroneously claiming that the Tesla Board had contacted recruitment firms to initiate a CEO search at the company. This is absolutely false (and this was communicated to the media before the report was published),” she said.

Denholm added that “the CEO of Tesla is Elon Musk, and the Board is highly confident in his ability to continue executing on the exciting growth plan ahead.”

Musk also refuted the Wall Street Journal’s report. In a post on X, the social media platform he acquired for $44 billion, he called the report “a deliberately false article.”

In recent times, Tesla has faced declining car sales. According to the company, there was a 71 percent drop in profit in the last quarter. In addition, the company’s stock has fallen by nearly 27 percent in the last three months.

As his car company continues to face these challenges, including reports of Tesla cars being burned by individuals allegedly displeased with the billionaire’s involvement in U.S. politics, Musk has pledged to reduce his time spent on government work.
