“I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was like in the movies.”
Tunde Adeola witnessed a dual vehicular crash in the Ikeja area of Lagos, Thursday night.
“A danfo driver lost control of his bus and plunged into an SUV. The danfo was moving at what I thought was a neck-breaking speed. It was probably at 100 kilometres per hour.
“The sound of the collision was so loud some people, who didn’t know what had happened, actually took to their heels. They thought it was a bomb explosion, I suppose.”
Newsroom gathered the SUV owner took hold of the danfo driver and called the police.
He reportedly said the reckless driver must foot the repair bill.
There were no authority agencies at the spot of the accident. No one was hurt or killed in the crash.
Danfo drivers are notorious for reckless driving.
“Most of those danfo buses don’t have speedometers,” an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) told Newsroom, Friday morning.
“So they speed without the driver being able to know how fast he’s going,” the official said.
“This is the more reason they should drive carefully…but they don’t,” he said.
