Port Harcourt Refinery Begins Loading of PMS, NNPC Announces

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced that the Port Harcourt refinery has begun loading petroleum products into trucks.

Spokesman for NNPC, Femi Soneye, made this known in a statement issued on Tuesday.

According to him, NNPC’s promise to re-stream the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) has been achieved.

He noted that crude oil will now be processed from the plant, with petroleum products supplied to the market with this development.

“On Tuesday, trucks began loading petroleum products which include Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) or petrol, Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) or diesel and Household Kerosene (HHK) or Kerosene, while other product slates will be dispatched as well,” NNPC’s statement read.

Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPC, Mele Kyari, hailed the development as a big leap in Nigeria’s economic growth.

He lavished praise on President Bola Tinubu for his zeal in ensuring the sector is revived.

To the NNPC board of directors, staff and contractors, he hailed them for “doing a great job.”

In turn, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, hailed NNPC for the achievement.

He hoped that this milestone will spur the progress of works in other refineries.
