Police arrests robbery suspects who attacked Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth
Two suspects in connection with the robbery attack on Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth in September have been arrested by the Lagos State Police command.
Basketmouth was attacked at gunpoint his Lekki residence on September 7, 2016 and the Police said it immediately sprung into action upon receiving a distress call from the comedian.
The Police says investigations led it to apprehend one Chiemeze Joseph on 16th November 2016, while the suspect was carrying out an armed robbery operation at Ilasa Maja area of Lagos.
Following Joseph’s arrest, the Police was able to arrest another gang member identified as Chibuzor, and further investigations revealed he led the gang that attacked the comedian.

Items recovered from the suspects are 1 Beretta pistol, 2 locally made pistols, 2 AK-47 rifles loaded with ammunition, 12 live cartridges, 2 iron cutters, master keys and 1 Mercedes 4matic Benz jeep.
The commissioner of police, CP Fatai Owoseni while parading the suspects, stated that the Command will continue to be on the trail of criminals within the state.
He further reassured that the safety of residents in the state is guaranteed during this festive period.
Both suspects, Chiemezie Joseph and Chibuzor Ugwu will soon be charged to court.
