Police authorities in Lagos have cautioned lovers of wine to be wary of adulterated wines that have flooded the market this festive period.
The word of caution comes after an alleged fake wine producer, Uju Daniel Ughanze was arrested in the Aboru, Oke-Odo area of the state.
Police say Ughanze, a 48-year-old Anambra native, operated an illegal assorted beverages brewery. 4000 bottles of adulterated wine of different brands, 1000 empty bottles of popular wines were said to have been recovered from his store.
He was said to be using a part of the factory for processing the chemical, while another was used to fill the bottles. He also had six rooms to store the finished products.
Police say the secondary school dropout has neither the requisite qualification nor license to operate such type of business.
