Physically impaired lady, Grace Atukpa speaks on how she graduated with a first class degree

Grace Atukpa, who has been visually impaired since she was 12, graduated from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism with a distinction in her Higher National Diploma Programme.
The 26-year-old no doubt defied all odds to be the best among her pairs. When asked the secret of her achievement, Grace said what helped her was doing the right thing at the right time, and also not seeing her disability and an inability.
Grace’s visual disability started from a headache. According to her, her stepmother initially said she was exaggerating and being a ‘drama queen’ until her father took her to the hospital.
She was misdiagnosed at the hospital and lost the use of her eyes forever.
