PHOTOS: Navy arrests 19 suspected oil thieves with N3.5m in Lagos, Ondo

Nineteen suspected oil thieves have been arrested in Lagos and some parts of Ondo State by operatives of the Nigerian Navy.

The suspects were alleged to be involved in an illegal dealing in petroleum products sourced from a hijacked vessel, MT MAMA ELIZABETH.

A N3.5 million sum suspected to be proceeds from the sale of the illegally acquired products was found on them during the arrest.

The EFCC identify them as:  Ayeni John, Adetini Ademola, Saliu Malik, Emmanuel Tosu, Emopin Moneyin, Malade Aiyetimiyi, Oduroja Ojune, Ikudehinbu Idowu, Abogun Ota, Elamah Augustine, Olarotimi Elikanah, Thank-God Benjamin, Abbas Friday, Victor Goldsmith, Gbenga Thomas, Ibane Austin, Idowu Surprise, Asemia Thomas and Agbayoh Lawrence.

Two large fibre boats with the petroleum products were also seized by the Navy.

Investigation is still ongoing before the suspects would be charged to court.
