Two women collapsed when the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) women protesters were arraigned in court on Monday.

The women had been arrested by the police in Imo on Friday, August 17, during a protest in which they demanded the whereabouts of self-styled IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Since their arrest, they were allegedly denied proper medical attention by the police.

Reports say one of the women collapsed shortly after they arrived at the court, but was quickly resuscitated by her colleagues who poured water on her.

Another member of the group who is reportedly pregnant was also said to have collapsed and was rushed to the hospital in a police van.

There was, however, a peaceful demonstration at the court premises, as some women stripped naked and attempted to prevent security agents from transferring the protesters to prison custody.

Some women were seen crying and describing the detention of the protesters as illegal.

The Magistrates court sitting in Owerri denied the protesters bail and adjourned the matter to September 3.
