Motorists who plied the Ikorodu expressway had to endure a “needless and frustrating” traffic headache.
Vehicular movement along the Palm Groove section of the highway was momentarily paused after a tankless truck hit a car from behind, Thursday night.
The incident happened around 8:30 p.m. at Palm Groove bus stop along Lagos-Ikorodu expressway.
The driver abruptly stopped in the middle of the road after his car took the thud.
His action caused a temporary hold-up rapidly involving a 500-meter-stretch of vehicles, a citizen reporter who witnessed the incident told Newsroom.
…and then some thugs offered their attention.
After the truck and vehicle drivers appeared to have settled their issues, some hoodlums who have been monitoring the situation told the truck driver he couldn’t leave without “settling the boys.”
His “I’ve got no money” plea fell on deaf ears as the thugs insisted on getting paid. He even emptied his pockets but the thugs were not convinced.
After “the boys” got their pay, an altercation seem to ensue among them on the sharing formula.
One of the hoodlums, who tried to challenge the “ring leader” was put in his right senses with several shoves to his chest, and sundry threats of body-harming violence.
He calmed down, shut up, and took the money offered.
