There is an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Uhogua near Benin City, Edo State.
Mrs Iara, wife of state governor Adams Oshiomhole, visited the camp on Friday and made some donations on behalf of the state government.
“I will like to donate the sum of N2 milllion for the upkeep of the camp,” Iara said during the visit.
“Please, let the children all have the right sizes of clothes, so that the next time we come here, they will all have the right clothes on and they will be like every other kid out there, so nobody will ever know that they are in a camp,” she said.
The government donated other items for the upkeep of the children.
The UN says at least 1.4 million of Nigeria’s estimated 3 million IDPs are children.
Most of the people were displaced by Boko Haram’s terrorism; others by natural disasters and senseless tribal clashes.
God Bless Nigeria.
