Pastor Adeboye tells us why COVID-19 is causing global lockdown and what will happen

In the midst of ban on mass gatherings ordered by state governments in Nigeria as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, some religious organisations on Sunday strictly complied with the order as earlier announced and took their regular service virtual.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) one of the leading Pentecostal churches in Nigeria with millions of members across the country was the first to announce on Thursday that it would be complying with government order and it did so on Sunday.

RCCG’s General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye led a service from the Throne of Grace parish in Lagos and was streamed live on the church’s digital platforms. Neusroom monitored the service on RCCG’s YouTube page and observed that less than 20 people were in attendance. Those who attended the service all sat at distant positions far from one another.

Adeboye in his sermon explained that the deadly virus is an act of God meant to prove to the world that He (God) is still in control.

He reminded his members of his prophecy at the beginning of the year when he said the Lord told him that in 2020 the whole world will behave like a child with convulsion.

He added:
“There is one other thing the Lord told me that I decided not to tell you, He said in this year the whole world will be on compulsory holiday

“My daddy says he wants to show the world that He is still the one in control. The good news about this is that, as soon as He has proved to the whole earth, He will take away the plague. How long before that happens? Sorry I can’t tell you, but by the look of things He is already achieving His purpose, if He stops the plague now, the world by now should know that there is someone called the almighty. My children enjoy your public holiday declared from heaven, you have nothing to worry about.”

He further stated that the deadly coronavirus will not die but will only go into the background at the appointed time.

“As soon as God proves His point, coronavirus will subside, it will not die, it has come to stay. It will go into the background just like Ebola and other plagues that have been around. Hopefully it will stay in the background if God does not need it again. The next time the people of the world try to show that they are greater than God, He knows what to do.”
