Confusion as Onanuga debunks Tinubu’s speech, deletes X post later

The Media team of President Bola Tinubu appeared in disarray after the President’s two media handlers clashed over Tinubu’s video speech to Nigerians amid protests.

A video released by O’tega Ogra, the Senior Special Assistant on Digital/New Media to the President, showing his assurance to Nigerians on his government’s plans to alleviate hardship and hunger made the rounds on Wednesday,.

“As we navigate through these temporary pains, please remember that every effort is being made to ensure a stable and prosperous future for all Nigerians. Our collective strength and unity will pave the way for a brighter tomorrow. We are in this together, and we will overcome,” the President was heard saying in the video released via his X handle.

The video came hot on the heels of a live broadcast to Nigerians by President Tinubu on Sunday morning.

However, in a bizarre twist, a few hours later, Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, discredited the video, citing it as an old broadcast from 2023.

Taking to X, Onanuga wrote, “A trending video of President Tinubu which came out on Wednesday is not a new video. It’s a clip from the broadcast he made last year. President Tinubu has not made any other public statement since his last broadcast on Sunday.”

These contradictory statements have led Nigerians to lambast the President’s Media team for incompetence and lack of harmony.

Following the backlash, Onanuga was forced to delete his tweet in controversial manner as tongues wag as to what to believe anymore as regards statements purportedly coming from the President.
