Overspeeding: 2 dead,1 injured in Lagos-Badagry crash

A tragic incident as confirmed by the Lagos State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC through its Unit Commander, Mr Williams Manga occurred on Saturday along the Lagos-Badagry express way.

The incident, according to Mr. Manga occurred near the Mammy Market Barracks axis of the expressway.

In his statement, he explained that the cause of the accident was excessive speeding.

“Our personnel were alerted about the accident immediately, and we got to the scene at exactly 7.15. a.m.“The Toyota commercial bus with registration number MHY 165 YH collided with a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number LAAR 313 VP coming from Badagry”, he said.

The accident claimed two lives and their corpses have been deposited in the mortuary, while the injured person was rushed to the Badagry General Hospital.

While clarifying the extent of the incident, he stated that, “the two persons on the motorcycle died instantly, while one in the front seat of the bus sustained varying degrees of injury.

“One of them was not affected by the accident at all”.

The unit commander urged motorists plying the Lagos-Badagry expressway to drive within limit on the one-lane expressway to avoid accidents.

He further admonished motorists plying the Agbala-Badagry route to be involved in sensitization programmes organised and adhere to driving protocols.
