Orphanage owner arrested in Edo for housing “stolen” child

Police in Edo State have arrested an orphanage owner, Mrs. Kehinde Blessing Imariagbe after a missing child was found in her care.

Elo Ogidi, a daughter of a pastor at the Christ Embassy church, was stolen from the Oregun branch after a Sunday service on July 8, 2018.

She was found over a month later at Imariagbe’s God’s Own Orphanage located along Siluko Road, Benin.

Imariagbe told news men that Elo was brought to her by a man, Patrick Chukwuma, who claimed to be her father.

“I have been calling Chukwuma since last week but his numbers could not be reached,” she said.

“It was my mistake not to report to the matter because I felt since it was her father that brought her. We only report cases if the child could not be traced to anybody.

“If it as an abandon child, we go to the police. The girl looked like the man that brought her which was why I believed.”
