How Okeke, 24, imports expired food from Ghana, re-brands them as new in Anambra one-room “factory”

Victor Ebuka Okeke, 24, has been arrested for allegedly putting public health at risk.

He is allegedly into the business of importing, re-branding and reselling expired food products. That’s a crime under Nigerian law.

Reports say Okeke has a one-room factory in Anambra state stocked with illegal and expired food products he imports from Ghana.

Okeke used the drums at the corner of the room to wash off old labels from the containers of the expired products.

In the “factory,” Okeke specialises in washing off old labels from the expired products and plastering new ones in their place, reports say.

The expired, unhealthy and dangerous foods, now re-validated, are then sold to members of the public.

Okeke reportedly admitted to committing the crime after he was busted by officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

A NAFDAC official said the agency will soon charge the suspect to court.
