Ojude Oba: the home coming

The gathering of folks, family and friends for festivities is a common tradition all over the world. These  traditions varies from states to country, country to continent.

Nigeria is home to diverse cultures and traditions. These cultures are celebrated on special days that have certain connotations to the traditions.

One of the many cultural heritages celebrated in Nigeria is the Ojude Oba — a Yoruba festival held in Ijebu Ode, a town in Ogun State, Southwestern Nigeria. It is held annually the third day after Eid al-Kabir.

The festival began over 100 years ago and is often sponsored by the incumbent Awujale, the people of Ijebu-Ode, individuals and corporate organizations.

For locales and those in diaspora, Ojude Oba is a must attend . People come from all over the world to celebrate and pay homage to Awujale and catch up with friends and family.
