Odusami Ajibola Matthew: UNILAG final year student slumps, dies while playing football with friends

A student of the University of Lagos has died after collapsing while playing football with friends.
Odusami Ajibola Matthew started breathing heavily during the game, UNILAG community blog FSS Gist quoted Folorunsho Adedolapo, who was present when the incident happened, as saying.
Matthew was reported to have excused himself to get some rest. But as he walked towards a sit, he slumped and became unconscious.
“He was immediately rushed to the UNILAG health centre where the doctors tried their possible best to resuscitate him for over an hour,” Adedolapo was quoted to have said.
“Unable to do so, he was immediately transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where he was certified dead.”
Matthew was a 500 level student of Estate Management. Doctors were unable to determine the cause of his death. It’s unclear if an autopsy would be conducted in that regard.
UNILAG authorities have confirmed the sad news to his parents, NewsroomNG understands.
The Faculty of Environmental Sciences Student Association (FESSA) released a statement early Saturday regarding the tragic incident.
“His death is a big shock to us and we will always remember him,” the statement read.
Matthew’s unfortunate passing has thrown UNILAG into mourning with many among his colleagues paying him tributes..
