Obasanjo endorses “Made in Aba” shoes, acquires few pairs
What better way to encourage citizens’ embrace of “Made in Nigeria” products than to get former Nigerian president and political stalwart, Olusegun Obasanjo to endorse your products.
That was the significance of Abia State governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu’s gesture when he duly obliged Obasanjo’s request for “Made in Aba” shoes by delivering several pairs at his Otta Hilltop Mansion.
The request was made by the political stalwart at the last Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Lecture where the governor was a Guest Speaker.

The gesture is mainly geared towards encouraging the patronage of products that come out of Nigeria, so as to reduce the country’s heavy reliance on importation and to bolster the economy.
“If I can wear these shoes and I feel very comfortable in them … if they are good for me, then they are good for Africa,” Obasanjo excitedly said upon testing the delivered pairs, revealing the African Export Bank has expressed its willingness to promote locally made products, with a possibility of setting up an industrial park in the country.
