Nollywood’s Doris Simeon – the orphan who got her break through Yomi Ogunmola
By Timilehin Ajagunna
Doris Simeon is one of the finest Nigerian actresses with visible presence on the big screen. She is a gifted and skilled Yoruba actress who has been on top of her game for over a decade.
The mother-of-one was born in Lagos and raised in Ojota close to Lagos mainland, NET reports.

A chance meeting with the late Yomi Ogunmola in 2001 provided an opportunity to finally get a foot in the door, after struggling for many years to penetrate the industry.
Before her first TV role, and the many Nollywood castings to come, she worked at Smooth Promotions, Entertainment Consult and The Era Awards.
Doris Simeon would later study at Wale Adenuga’s PEFTI after working on the popular series Papa Ajasco & Co.
Working on soaps and series and home videos, Doris Simeon established herself as a dominant face – especially with the Yoruba genre.
And were it not for the crash of her marriage to popular movie director, Daniel Ademinokan, she would have been one of the few in her class, to be free of controversy.
Doris Simeon has featured in over 100 Nigerian films, and is the recipient of a 2008 AMAA Best Indigenous actress Award.
