“Nobody in my family has ever lived up to 70 years” – Atiku Abubakar

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar is the first in his family to reach 70 years of age.

As almost unbelievable as that sounds, the political stalwart made the revelation at a recent event organised to mark his 70th birthday by students of American University of Nigeria Academy, Yola.

He said, “It is a milestone in my life because nobody in my family has ever lived up to 70 years.”

The elated politician hailed the students for “the surprise of a birthday bash” in his honour and reiterated his commitment to continue to support education in the country.

He also implored the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to suspend the ongoing warning strike for the sake of Nigerian students, while stressing the importance of education to the development of every nation.
