NNPC: Buhari “promotes” Ibe Kachikwu

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr Ibe Kachikwu has been given a new role at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.
This follows President Muhammadu Buhari’s composition of a new board for the corporation.
Kachikwu has been appointed to serve as the chairman for the new board.
Members of the new @NNPCgroup board include:
Chairman – Dr @IbeKachikwu
GMD – Dr Maikanti Kacalla Baru

Dr Maicanti Kacalla Baru replaces him as the Group Managing Director.
The duo are joined by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance and six other persons to complete the board.
The six persons include: Mallam Abba Kyari, Dr Thomas M.A. John, Dr Pius O. Akinyelure, Dr Tajuddeen Umar, Mallam Mohammed Lawal and Mallam Yusuf Lawal.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed the development.
The statement quotes President Buhari as urging the new board to “serve the nation by upholding the public trust placed on them in managing this critical national asset.”.
