NIS arrests fleeing Niger national for stabbing Nigerian to death
One Isa Idrisa has been arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) for allegedly stabbing a man to death in Hadejia, Jigawa.
NIS Comptroller in the state, Garba Abdul, said the suspect stabbed one Suleiman Adamu to death sometime in 2008 and had fled to his Niger country. He was arrested by operatives on a patrol in Maigatari and Gumel, a border area between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
Idrisa reportedly confessed to the crime.
“I had a misunderstanding with the deceased and we fought at a political rally in 2008 during former Governor Ibrahim Turaki’s administration,” he said.
“I committed the offence out of anger, I am therefore appealing for leniency because I am not mentally alright.”
Garba said that different concoctions and charms on the suspect were found in the suspect’s possession, and he has been handed to the police for investigation.
