Nigeria’s D’Tigers edge past Cote d’Ivorie in FIBA World Cup 2019 Qualifiers
Nigeria’s men national basketball team the D’Tigers continued their impressive run at the ongoing FIBA World Cup 2019 Qualifiers with an 84 – 73 win against Cote d’Ivoire Friday night at the indoor sports hall of the national stadium Surulere, Lagos.
With this win, Nigeria remains unbeaten as they seek a place at next year’s FIBA 2019 World Cup in China from August 31st to September 15.
D’Tigers went into the halftime break with a nine point lead topping the Ivorians 41-32.
The qualifiers saw the return of some of the countries big names including Portland Trailblazers forward Al-Farouk Aminu.
Top performers for Nigeria are Obi Emegano with 15 points, Captain Ike Diogu with 13 points, Forward Al Farouq Aminu with 11 points, Ike Iroegbu and Ike Nwamu with 11 points.
Nigeria’s next game comes up today by 8 pm against the Central Africa Republic at the national stadium Lagos.
Earlier on Friday Mali defeated the Central Africa Republic 66 – 65 while Senegal inspired by Minnesota Timbervolves Center, Gorgui Sy Dieng beat Rwanda 94 – 89. Dieng scored 28 points.
