Nigerians mourn as veteran radio presenter Dan Foster dies of COVID-19
Veteran Nigerian-based American radio presenter, Dan Foster, is dead.
Neusroom can authoritatively report that the popular OAP died on Wednesday afternoon of complications from COVID-19.
A family source who spoke to Neusroom on condition of anonimity confirmed Foster’s death and said “it happened today around 1:30pm. He died at the Yaba isolation centre.
“His family will release a statement soon.”
A former General Manager of Classic FM could not confirm the report told Neusroom he is still trying to get information.
Meanwhile, Cool FM’s OAP Dotun aka Do2dtun confirmed Foster’s death in a tweet and has paid tribute to the late broadcaster, “Oh Dan Foster…you gave me the strength to do this and even more. This is really painful,” he tweeted.
The multi-award winning American broadcaster was born in Washington D.C, USA, before moving to Nigeria in 2000 to join Cool FM after his stint with US-based radio stations such as Mix 106.5.
He later joined Inspiration FM in 2009, City FM 105.1 in 2014 and moved to Classic FM in 2016.
Foster’s death, coming just three days after Ibidun Ighodalo died in Rivers State, has sparked sadness on the internet as many take to social media to mourn and pay tribute to him.
Details about his death are yet to be announced by his family.
