Nigeria wins first Rio 2016 Paralympics medal

A Nigerian has won Silver at the ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Latifat Tijani’s silver medal is Nigeria’s first at the 2016 Paralympics. She lifted a total of 106kg to emerge second in the women’s 45kg powerlifting.

China’s Hu Dandan, who set a new world and paralympic record with her lift of 107kg, won gold.
