Nigeria: Governor goes commando, locks late-comer secretary, others out

Like a disciplined teacher monitoring students’ attendance, Governor Ben Ayade surprised members of his staff on Wednesday morning.
The governor, who reportedly arrived at the state house in Calabar around 7:30am, locked out late comers.
He reportedly ordered the closure of all entrances after arriving his office to see no one had resumed.
Members of staff who arrived later were made to stand outside.
The Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Tina Agbor, was one of those denied entrance, reports say.

Gov Ayade’s deputy, Professor Ivara Esu, reportedly arrived minutes later around 8am. He was allowed to enter.
Other civil servants, security aides and other appointees were said to have been kept out by stern looking security operatives.
Some staff were, however, allowed to go in around 9:00am, while those who arrived later were barred.

A lot of civil service workers in Nigeria are notorious of not keeping to time.
