Nigeria Customs Service Promotes 1,419 Junior Officers

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has confirmed the promotion of 1,419 junior officers to higher ranks, Neusroom gather.

The National Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NCS, Abdullahi Maiwada, made this known in a statement released on Wednesday.

NCS made this decision during its 10th Management meeting which was chaired by the Customs’ Comptroller-General, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

Officers from the General Duty and Support Staff categories of the Service who excelled in this year’s promotion exercise made the cut.

“The Nigeria Customs Service Management has approved the promotion of 1,419 junior officers across various ranks.

“This significant decision was ratified during the 10th Management meeting, chaired by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, on November 29, 2024.

“The comprehensive promotion list encompasses both General Duty and Support Staff who excelled in the 2024 promotion exercise,” the statement read.

The PRO revealed that 346 General Duty and 384 Support Staff officers rose from the rank of Assistant Inspector of Customs to Inspector of Customs.

“Four General Duty and 13 Support Staff officers advanced from Customs Assistant I to Assistant Inspector of Customs; 372 General Duty and 59 Support Staff officers moved up from Customs Assistant II to Customs Assistant I; 188 General Duty and 54 Support Staff officers were promoted from Customs Assistant III to Customs Assistant II.

He further disclosed that the promotion list for senior officers is currently being processed subject to the approval of the Nigeria Customs Service Board.

Adeniyi hailed the officers promoted and tasked them to continue to play key roles in checking smuggling and facilitating trade.
