#NECLive8: My Fans Motivate Me To Do Better – Mercy Eke
Mercy Eke, the winner of the 2019 edition of the Big Brother Naija reality show, has attributed her continued success to constant motivation from her fans, The Mercenaries.
Speaking at the 8th edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive8), the 27-year-old sounded really grateful as she reflected on her journey with her fan base.
“My fans push me a lot”, said Eke. “They remind me to be more consistent in putting out content, and whenever I drop something, they all rally around to support me. They are there because I am creating something for them to get behind and work with. It’s not just engaging on Twitter or Instagram.”
“When it comes to relating with fans, you need to have a product, something of value. A lot of people just want to be famous, but they don’t have any direction. Even with the fame from Big Brother, I’m still taking on many projects: I have real estate, I have my M & M luxury, I also supply diesel to a lot of companies. People don’t know about this. I could have gone on business trips, but no, I am taking risks in various business ventures. This is where the fans come in: they support my luxury business because I sell what they love and what they can connect with”, she added.
Eke also had a few words for women who intended to venture into show business, urging them to be determined and focused.
“I know a lot of ladies out there with aspirations, and I’m here to tell you that your dreams are valid. When things start to fall in place for you, do not relent, do not think that you have ‘arrived’, because you still have a long way to go. At the end of the day, what stands the test of time is what you have put out there. People only associate with success. You need to keep doing what you do best, no matter how small-scale it looks. Don’t take no for an answer, keep going, and one day it will pay”, she noted.
