Navy arrests 8 oil bunkerers with 522 metric tons of AGO

Eight suspected oil thieves are being investigated by the EFCC, for their alleged involvement in illegal oil bunkering.

The suspects were arrested by the Nigerian Navy at Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The representative of the NNS Pathfinder’s Commander, Navy Captain Victor Choji, said that the suspects were arrested for anti-crude oil theft and illegal oil bunkering operations around Okono Oil field, Port Harcourt.

Choji said the suspects were arrested with one vessel, MV MAC CLINT on 22 November, 2017.

The vessel, laden with products suspected to be Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) was allegedly loaded from MT VICTORIA at a location outside Bonny Bar on 21 November, 2017 without Naval approval.

The suspects aboard the vassel are: Williams Ajokworode; Eyerimemre Godbless; Dennis Bekewer; Nsidibe Okon; John Bassey; Emmanuel Sunday, Endwell Henshaw and Benson Oghele Moses.

The EFCC say they will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
