National grid collapse due to line tripping, repairs ongoing – TCN

National Grid Collapses Again as Gas Producers Reportedly Halt Supply to GenCos

The persistent collapse of the National grid has been attributed to line tripping according to the Transmission Company of Nigeria.

Ndidi Mbah, TCN general manager (GM), public affairs in a statement on Tuesday said that the unfortunate incident took place at about 1:52pm.

She emphasised that while repair is ongoing, data from the National Control Centre (NCC) indicates that a part of the grid was not affected by the power trip.

She said, “TCN engineers are already working to quickly restore bulk power supply to the states affected by the partial disturbance”

“Presently, bulk power supply has been restored to Abuja, at 2.49pm, and we are gradually restoring to other parts of the country.

“We sincerely apologize for every inconvenience this may cause our electricity customers”.

While on October 17, Adebayo Adelabu, minister of power, Adebayo Adelabu noted that grid disturbances will persist until there is a complete overhaul of the system.
